In the blink of an eye, Washington Huskies head coach Jedd Fisch has assembled his offense of the future. On Friday, he landed a commitment from four-star receiver Dontay Tyson, which means the Huskies’ 2027 recruiting class now features a quartet of blue-chip wideouts.

Tyson, who’s been making waves out of Peoria High School in Peoria, Ariz., is a consensus four-star prospect, ranked by 247Sports as the nation’s No. 39 wide receiver and Arizona’s No. 6 overall player. He chose the Huskies over Texas A&M, whose Aggies currently hold the nation’s No. 1 recruiting class.
At 6-foot-1 and 190 pounds, Tyson’s built to win with straight-line speed. He qualified for state competition in the 100-meter and 200-meter sprints as a high school freshman, and holds personal records of 10.79 and 22.49 seconds, respectively. Despite being limited to just seven football games as a junior, he used that track speed to tally 37 receptions for 448 yards and seven touchdowns.
Tyson’s commitment to UW comes less than a week after his second visit to Montlake. He made his first trip up to Seattle in March for Junior Day, and was on campus last weekend again for an official visit. He was expected to make an official visit to Texas A&M this weekend, but Fisch and wide receivers coach Kevin Cummings appear to have closed the deal already.
“Coach Fisch is sharp as it gets, his NFL background shows in everything,” Tyson said following his most recent visit. “[Coach Cummings] brings amazing energy and is a master developer with receivers. I love their vision.”
Dontay Tyson and Tre Moore add to an already potent lineup of offensive recruits
Tyson’s commitment felt all the more impactful because it came just three days after Washington landed a commitment from fellow four-star wideout Tre Moore, who thrilled UW fans when he announced his decision on Tuesday.
Moore, who stands an imposing 6-foot-3 and 200 pounds, has been nearly unstoppable for Pflugerville Weiss High School in Pflugerville, Texas, where as a junior he recorded 85 catches for 1,443 yards and 19 touchdowns.
Moore’s playmaking ability and prototypical frame have earned him the highest 247Sports ranking (No. 168 nationally) out of any of the Huskies’ 17 commits. Tyson’s No. 39 positional ranking means he slots in behind Moore as the second-highest-ranked receiver in UW’s 2027 class.
Washington’s rapid acquisition of both players’ commitments is a major victory for Fisch and company, whose Class of 2027 receiving corps already featured four-star receivers Zerek Sidney (the nation’s No. 42 receiver) and Braylon Pope (No. 50 receiver), as well as four-star running back Jeremy Adeyanju (No. 48 running back).
That talented squad is set to be led by another four-star in quarterback Blake Roskopf. The 6-foot-5, 235-pound passer–who is ranked by 247Sports as the nation’s No. 12 quarterback prospect and No. 202 overall player–was the Huskies’ highest-rated offensive commit until Moore’s Tuesday announcement. He’s also a current high school teammate of Sidney at Desert Edge High School in Goodyear, Ariz., where the two already combined for a 5A state title as sophomores.
Sidney has reportedly been doing his own recruiting since committing in late January, and that likely got easier when he got his four-star passer on board. Now, the Huskies hold commitments from four of the nation’s top 50 wideouts, a highly-touted quarterback, and an exciting running back. They’ve also got seven more months of recruiting with which to round out the class and add more weapons.
With an impressive haul already in hand, more blue-chippers on campus this weekend, and still more set to visit in the coming weeks, things are looking up for the future of Husky football.
