Well, apparently the Washington Huskies no longer have a chance to get through this season with a perfect record. The chance to have an unblemished season came to an annoying end as the Huskies fell to the Washington State Cougars in an Apple Cup that was full of penalties and blunders for UW

Now the Huskies get the distinct pleasure of figuring out how to move forward after suffering a 24-19 disappointment against Wazzu.

Arguably one of the biggest storylines that this game had was the way Washington committed an abundance of penalties. The Huskies were flagged a total of 16 times for a grand total of 135 yards. That’s something that is going to get a lot of attention for the foreseeable future as Jedd Fisch and UW try to bounce back from this loss.

The Huskies absolutely cannot be this undisciplined when they face Big Ten foes this season. There are far too many difficult opponents up ahead on Washington’s 2024 schedule. Heck, Washington outgained Wazzu by 71 yards and lost by five points. Will Rogers had a strong showing, completing 23 of 31 attempts for over 300 yards and a touchdown. Giles Jackson was electric as he hauled in eight catches for over 160 yards and a touchdown.

And again, Wazzu came out on top. That’s incredibly frustrating and Washington fans were more than happy to share their frustrations here.

I hope Siri answers and doesn't use what happened at the end of the Huskies' loss to the Cougars was. Because that play was incredibly less-than-ideal for that sort of circumstance. Just mind boggling.

That's fair. He was a good coach for the Huskies. Fisch has shown elsewhere that he is a good coach, but he's going to need to do more in Seattle.

Jake Dickert and Wazzu's staff looked really solid today. The Huskies looked like a team that was recently assembled and is still learning how to operate together. Which, uh, isn't great.

Yeah, penalties were a big problem.

Because they led to that loss.

And the overall lack of discipline? That was a pretty common complaint.

Fisch and the Huskies still have plenty of season ahead of them. The good news is the passing attack looked pretty potent. The bad news is this was still a loss and there's a lot of work to be done to avoid the penalty problems that plagued UW today.
