Washington Husky football fans have to be used to change by now, right? The Huskies have a new head coach (and new coaching staff), a ton of roster churn and turnover from last season via the transfer portal, a new athletics director, and various different changes across the gameday experience.

But they should probably go ahead and buckle up for one more alteration to their beloved gameday experience and traditions. There’s a brand new location and route for the iconic Dawg Walk on Washington Husky gamedays

The goal is to amp up the pre-game atmosphere and get more fans more opportunities to interact with Jedd Fisch and the Washington Huskies as they head into Alaska Airline Field at Husky Stadium during home games this season.

We’ll see how it all unfolds, but it’s an interesting change.

Washington Huskies football: New Dawg Walk location unveiled for 2024 Washington Husky football season

Starting on Saturday as the Washington Huskies host Weber State, the football team’s buses will stop in front of Alaska Airlines Arena to the north of Husky Stadium.

Each week, around 2.5 hours before kickoff time, the team will head from their buses and into the stadium. Of course, this is something of a parade as Fisch and the Huskies will be led by the University of Washington  Husky Marching Band, Spirit Squad, mascots Dubs and Harry the Husky, and the Husky Helmet Car.

That’s a fair bit of pageantry for Washington Husky football fans to sit back and enjoy.

According to Washington's press release, the Dawg Walk will take place as the team (and their corresponding entourage) walks south along Montlake Boulevard NE. The Huskies will walk past the rose garden as they head on into Husky Stadium.

This change should help increase the visibility of the Washington Huskies and provide a more thorough connection between the team and Washington Husky fans. Plus, you get a pretty scenic view for all of this.
