Saturday afternoon, Jedd Fisch and the Washington Huskies suffered their first loss of the season. Jake Dickert and the Washington State Cougars waltzed into Seattle for a neutral site Apple Cup matchup at Lumen Field and then they walked away with the trophy, taking bragging rights with them.

On Saturday, the Washington Huskies suffered a frustrating 24-19 loss to the Washington State Cougars. The 116th Apple Cup didn’t exactly go the way any Washington Husky fan could have hoped for. It was a close game all throughout and ultimately ended up as a loss, but that’s largely because of some bizarre errors and worrisome decisions from Washington this week.

It’s a disappointing and somewhat unexpected setback for the Huskies. And while it’s far from being the end of the world (or spelling gloom and doom for the 2024 Washington Husky football season, this loss does raise a few different questions about what the rest of the year might look like for Fisch and his Huskies.

As Washington gets set for the remainder of the season, and as the Huskies get to start Big Ten play sooner rather than later, Fisch and the Washington Husky football team will need to get a handle on some issues and answer some pretty big questions.
