Tina Langley and the Washington Huskies women’s basketball team are facing a pretty tough test as they continue their trip through the state of Michigan. After falling against the Michigan State Spartans in East Lansing, Langley and the Huskies are taking on the Michigan Wolverines in Ann Arbor on Wednesday evening.

And right now, if you ask the number crunching system connected to the ESPN Analytics Matchup Predictor, you’d find that the Wolverines are pretty heavily favored in this particular Big Ten conference matchup.

Despite the fact that Washington is off to a solid 12-5 start to the season and the fact that the Huskies are actually a game ahead of the Wolverines in the Big Ten standings, it looks like Washington is a fairly notable underdog against Michigan in this game.

And that’s a little frustrating.

Washington Huskies women’s basketball aiming to take down Michigan Wolverines in Big Ten road test

Heading into Wednesday afternoon’s game against Michigan in the Crisler Center, the ESPN Analytics Matchup Predictor is giving the Washington Huskies a meager 14.5 percent chance of being able to beat the Michigan Wolverines.

And there are some interesting numbers to consider here. Such as the fact that Michigan is 7-1 at home and that the Wolverines are averaging 81 points per game all while still limiting their opponents to just 61.3 points per game.

Oh, and Michigan’s defense is stifling from three-point range as the Wolverines’ opponents are hitting just 25.1 percent of their shots from deep. Washington’s sharp-shooters, like Sayvia Sellers (who is making 43.6 percent of her three-point attempts) and Elle Ladine (who is making 36.8 percent of her three-point attempts) will need to continue doing what they’ve thrived at all season so far.

Washington, as a team, is making 35.9 percent of its three-point shots this season. It’s something that the Huskies are pretty good at. We’ll see if the Wolverines are able to take that away.
