Tina Langley and the Washington Huskies women’s basketball team are still on the road away from Seattle and deep in the heart of the traditional, Midwest portion of the Big Ten. Wednesday afternoon (at least out on the West Coast), Langley and her Huskies will meet up with the Michigan Wolverines as they try to bounce back in Big Ten play.

Washington (12-5 overall, 3-2 Big Ten) is fresh off a frustrating loss on the road in East Lansing against Michigan State and the Huskies are hoping for a better result in the Crisler Center in Ann Arbor as they take on the Wolverines (11-5 overall, 2-3 Big Ten).

We’ll see how exactly that plays out for Langley and the Huskies. Right now, the ESPN analytics matchup predictor pretty heavily favors Michigan’s chances of winning this contest. The Huskies are being given just a 14.5 percent chance of winning this game.

That’s not exactly a great chance of winning, for what it’s worth.

Part of the reason that prediction could certainly be correct is that Michigan is incredibly tough to beat at home. Yes, the Wolverines are meddling around in the Big Ten standings right now and yes, Washington is a game ahead of them in conference play.

But it’s worth paying attention to the fact that Michigan is 7-1 when playing in Ann Arbor. And while Washington will be arguably the toughest foe that Michigan has played at home this season, that’s still a noteworthy home record for Michigan to have right now.

Oh, and those five losses that the Wolverines have? Those came against the then No. 1 South Carolina Gamecocks (by just six points, which is pretty noteworthy stuff), the then No. 10 Oklahoma Sooners (by 10 points, which isn’t that impressive), the then No. 4 USC Trojans (by 20 points, which is a lot to lose by), the then No. 1 UCLA Bruins (by 16 points, which isn’t that great), and the No. 9 Ohio State Buckeyes (by seven points, which isn’t bad).

Washington will really need to play solid basketball on the road to be able to get this win. Theoretically speaking, it’s a win that can be had. We’ll see how this all plays out.
