Washington Huskies quarterback Demond Williams Jr. continues to put his hat in the race for the nation's best under center, as his impressive career just added a Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week honor for his performance in Week 4against the Washington State Cougars.
Williams threw for 298 yards and four touchdowns, while also rushing for 88 yards and one touchdown. He was as accurate as he usually is: going 16-of-19 in his pass attempts to make it a fantastic 15.7 yards per attempt.
The Huskies scored 59 points in the game, totaling a staggering 129 points in their last two games once you include their 70-point explosion against UC Davis. That offense has been defined by the big plays Williams has been making, including a 45-yard pass to Jonah Coleman after miraculously avoiding a sack, and a 59-yard touchdown to Omari Evans against the Cougs.

Williams only took home a share of the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week, as Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza also earned honors after completing 21-of-23 passes for 267 yards and five touchdowns in a 63-10 rout of No. 9 Illinois. Still that makes it so that a Husky has earned the weekly award after every single Washington game, as Coleman was given co-honors in each of the first two UW victories.

On the year, Williams now has 778 passing yards and six touchdowns with a 73.5 completion percentage. He has yet to throw an interception. On the ground, Williams has rushed for 220 yards on 34 attempts (6.5 yards per carry), with two rushing touchdowns.
Still with single-digit starts across his collegiate career, it's extremely exciting to think about what Williams can become with more experience. He's already living up to, and even surpassing, the high expectations fans had for him following a couple promising games last season.
Williams will have a chance to have a career-defining performance in the Huskies' next game against No. 1 Ohio State at home. If he and his squad can pull off the massive upset, Williams will officially etch his name high on the national radar. But, he will have his work cut out for him.
