Washington Basketball star Markelle Fultz is the latest Husky player to join Team Nike
If you haven’t heard, Washington Basketball point guard is the talk of the NBA now. In the past several days, he:
Had a poor workout with the Boston Celtics
Decided to workout with the Los Angeles Lakers
Became the target of trade talks between the Celtics and the Philadelphia 76ers
Rerouted to Philadelphia to work out with the Sixers
Passed the workout and interview with the Sixers
And to top all that off, he landed a contract with Team Nike.
Nike Family
Now Nike is a familiar name to Huskies fans. In fact, Nike signed speedy wide receiver John Ross III to a contract after Ross failed to land the infamous Addidas contract challenge.
Ross broke the 40-yard dash record, but failed to do so in the required Addidas footwear. And so, the moment of great achievement nearly became a PR nightmare for Addidas. But the rules clearly stipulated footwear.

And so, that opened the door wide for Nike to step in and sign Ross to a contract.
Plum Nike
Washington Women’s Basketball star Kelsey Plum is another recent Team Nike family member
She is a great stage personality for the WNBA, and Nike wisely inked her to a contract deal for a special Plum Nike line.
Fultz Sixers Nike
Now Team Nike brings in another Washington Huskies player. Markelle Fultz, the top prospect in the 2017 NBA Draft, is onboard. In fact, he already has visions of his own line:
Fultz will join future NBA teammate Ben Simmons as NBA spokespersons for the brand. With every sport, much of the athlete’s income is from endorsement deals. Nike has aligned itself masterfully with the best in many sports, particularly the NBA, WNBA, and NFL. Fultz is one more top NBA talent in a long line of NBA stars who joined Team Nike.
