There was only one former Washington Husky at the Super Bowl, Jack Westover, who played for the New England Patriots. He obviously didn't win the Lombardi trophy as the Seattle Seahawks swam in the confetti and celebrated the victory. Yet, there will be one former Husky who gets a Super Bowl ring, and the reason is interesting enough to explore.

Myles Gaskin will get to wear a Super Bowl ring after the 2026 Seahawks victory over the Patriots. The simple definition is that he was on the roster during the season and was signed to the practice squad toward the end of it.

The longer story has a bit more twists to it. He was a local kid out of Seattle, playing for O'Dea, and grew up in the Seattle Seahawks and Washington Huskies backyard. He signed with the local team and played for Washington from 2015-2018, rushing for 5,323 rushing yards and 62 touchdowns. He was one of the best running backs at UW in school history.

He was then drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the 7th round. He mostly played backup in Miami, and after a couple of seasons became a bit of a journeyman in the NFL, being part of the running back stables for Miami, Minnesota (twice), Los Angeles (Rams), Jacksonville, Baltimore, and finally Seattle.

He was both part of the roster and then signed to the practice squad in October. He finished the season in that role and as part of the scout team. Because he's on the roster, even the practice squad, he gets a Super Bowl ring.

Thus, while it may not count in the most official capacity and he may have a different ring than the active roster players, he still is a Super Bowl champion.
