Jedd Fisch hasn't been able to land one of his preferred wide receivers out of the portal. Whether it's the cost, the promised amount of playing time, or the drama with Demond Williams Jr., it seems as if portal wide receivers haven't wanted to sign with the Dawgs. Now, Fisch is trying a new name in the portal, and it's another high ceiling, former top recruit, who could potentially be WR1 for the Huskies next season.
Zion Kearney is a former 4-star recruit who has played for two seasons at Oklahoma, but with only 10 total catches to his name. He simply could not find the field consistently as a sophomore, stuffed behind other pass catchers on the roster. That prompted him to jump into the portal.
Oklahoma WR Zion Kearney is visiting Toledo today, his reps @topflightboog_ and @shamar_thomas11 tell @CBSSports.

Kearney is also working to set up visits to Wisconsin, Washington and North Texas.

Kearney may not be the answer for the Huskies either, as he does not seem to be a sure thing and would also have to come in and compete for playing time. However, without much veteran experience in the wide receiver room, Fisch is looking for something. Yet, he has been mostly chasing the same type of player: a former top recruit who has been buried and has a lot to prove.
Fisch missed out on Quincy Porter Jr., who visited but ended up going to Notre Dame. Now, he's sniffing around Kearney to see if there's some juice there.
Kearney is also planning to visit Toledo, Wisconsin, and North Texas, according to the above source, Chris Hummer. Most of the top wide receivers from the transfer portal have already committed, so it's leaving teams like Washington that are still looking for some depth or another playmaker to test the waters on players like Kearney.
As of now, there's mutual interest between the two, but it remains to be seen if there will ultimately be a fit and a commitment. The most likely scenario for UW is that they turn to young receivers to carry the load next season.
