Washington’s high school recruiting efforts have paid off so far this year. The Huskies’ 2027 class, which already features three offensive blue-chippers and a deep linebacker corps, is currently ranked the nation’s 12th-best by 247Sports, but it’s not complete yet. Today, I’m going over three positional needs which head coach Jedd Fisch and company must address as they fill out what is a promising class of high school recruits.
3. Offensive tackle
With true freshman and former five-star recruit Kodi Greene set to start at left tackle, senior Drew Azzopardi returning at right tackle, and four-star junior transfer Kolt Dieterich waiting in the wings, the Huskies have no short-term concerns at offensive tackle. However, Washington has yet to sign a tackle in this year’s recruiting cycle, and could potentially be shorthanded in the future if they don’t eventually land one.
Although Fisch and the Huskies made a good impression on five-star offensive tackle Oluwasemilore Olubobola when he visited Montlake for Washington’s Junior Day activities, the highly-touted recruit has officially weighed out a commitment to the Dawgs. Olubobola, ranked by 247Sports as the nation’s No. 2 tackle prospect, chose Notre Dame over Miami and Texas A&M on Tuesday.
Though they missed out on Olubobola, the Huskies have three other offensive tackles scheduled to take official visits next month. Three-star Stanford commit Benjamin Lowther is still on the June 5 visit list, while uncommitted three-stars Tye Kennedy (son of former Husky and College Football Hall of Famer Lincoln Kennedy) and Gecova Doyal are both set to appear on June 19.
2. Interior offensive line
All three starters from the interior of Washington’s 2025 offensive line will be back in purple and gold in 2026, but two will be seniors, and the team also lost three depth pieces via the transfer portal. Given the extent to which Washington’s offensive line dealt with injuries in 2025, it’s important that the Huskies add some youth to the interior.
Currently, Fisch’s only offensive line commit from the Class of 2027 is Reis Russell, who’s projected to play center in college despite playing right tackle for Highlands Ranch, Colo.’s Valor Christian High School. He’s set to join a Huskies squad which signed only one interior blocker–three-star Seattle native Ah Deong Yang–during the 2026 recruiting cycle.
Thankfully, Fisch has a horde of interior blockers set to visit Montlake next month. Three-star interior linemen Lincoln Mageo, Tristan Dare, and DaJohn Yarborough are all scheduled to join Russell on campus on June 19 for what could be a landmark weekend for the future of Washington’s offensive line.
1. Safety
Washington’s defense is returning two major contributors in full-time starter Alex McLaughlin and true sophomore Rylon Dillard-Allen. However, senior CJ Christian suffered a second consecutive season-ending injury in April, which means Washington could rely heavily on true freshman Gavin Day in 2026.
Day was the only safety recruit Fisch signed during the 2026 high school recruiting cycle, and Dillard-Allen was the only freshman safety added the year before. And although Fisch landed both McLaughlin and Christian in his 2025 portal haul, he didn’t add a single safety during January’s 2026 transfer window. If he wants the Huskies to have any safety depth at all in 2027, he’ll likely need to earn at least two commitments at the position before this year’s recruiting cycle wraps up next February.
Fisch will know more about his secondary’s future on March 17, when four-star safety announces his commitment. Williams, who stands 6-foot-1 and weighs 180 pounds, is ranked by 247Sports as the nation’s No. 6 safety and No. 86 overall player. He’s included the Huskies in his final four alongside Notre Dame, UCLA, and USC:

Williams would be a massive signing for the Huskies, but he’s not the only safety Washington is after. Also visiting are four-star safety Jaden Walk-Green, three-star Isala Aisa Wily-Ava (both on June 5), and three-star Malakai Taufoou (June 19).
