The Washington Huskies land a fast-rising offensive line recruit out of Colorado. Reis Russell is ranked a 3-star recruit and the sixth-best player in his state. While 24/7 Sports and On3.com may only have him as a 3-star recruit, he has offers like he's a five-star. He has compiled 34 offers from all over the country, and Jedd Fisch was able to beat them all.
Russell is 6'3 and nearly 300 pounds. He chose the Huskies over Georgia, Miami, Auburn, USC, and even his home program, Colorado. He recently took visits to Miami, Georgia, and USC. His addition to the Huskies has inched the 2027 recruiting class for the Huskies closer to a top-10 class. 24/7 Sports has it ranked as No. 11.

Russell is the first lineman in the 2027 recruiting class, but he's the 13th total player committed to the Huskies. It is a class that has three 4-stars and the rest are 3-star recruits. As the 2027 recruiting class and commitments are only in midswing, and most of the summer, more and more will roll in. This is a great start for Fisch and company.
Fisch will need a few more like Russell, as the offense is built around big boys up front; adding top-end, ready-to-go talent at offensive line is going to be important. But also players like Russell that may need some time at the college level to settle in, but have a college frame and project as a top-end starter on the interior of an offensive line.
Landing Russell is a big score, as he was highly coveted regardless of what the rankings say. He had the biggest programs after him and was trying to get him in the fold. The Huskies once again were able to find a way to land an important offensive line recruit, this year in Reis Russell.
