Jonah Coleman could be seen roaming the sidelines of the Dawgs after Dark spring game. As a newly drafted Denver Bronco, he said he was relieved to no longer be worried about the NFL Draft, and he could just enjoy his time with his former team and many former players. The Big Ten Network asked who he thought would take the reins as the lead back for the Huskies without him there, and he gave one name: Quaid Carr.

Coleman said he loved what he saw from Carr last season and said the "young guy" has some burst. It's a slightly surprising but somewhat not surprising pick by Coleman. The reason it shouldn't surprise is that Carr is one of the backs who was on the team last year and ran with Coleman. But the shocking part is that Carr barely played last season.

Carr only played in two total games last season. One time against Purdue, getting a single carry for eight yards. He then had three carries in the L.A. Bowl. Carr is also not the most heralded back in the 2026 Husky backfield.

Jedd Fisch brought in Jayden Limar from the Oregon Ducks via the transfer portal and Jordan Washington is probably the most accomplished of the backs who were on the roster last season. Then there's even Ansu Sanoe who's been turning heads in the spring game.

Sanoe was one of the top running back recruits in the country last season and has Husky fans wondering in the spring game if he will actually end up being one of the big sparks out of the backfield in 2026.

It's great to hear Coleman prop up Carr as a player to watch and a potential lead back, since the stable hasn't quite been figured out. Maybe it is Carr, Sanoe, Limar, or even Washington. It most likely will be a bit of all of them and maybe even another wild card. Fisch often will ride a hot hand but also give many of his backs opportunities to tout the rock.
