Washington Huskies football left just outside of US LBM Coaches Poll preseason top 25

It stings a bit seeing the Washington Huskies football team just outside of the top 25, but it does make a little bit of sense.

Are Jedd Fisch and the Washington Huskies football team being overlooked a bit as we get set for the 2024 college football season? It's a fair question to ask given that both the coaches poll and the AP poll don't have last year's runner up ranked in either preseason top 25.

That said, it's really not all that unexpected.

It's admittedly pretty odd. It's weird to see. But it does make sense. The Washington Huskies are essentially a brand new team when comparing last season's group (including the coaches and players on the roster) to the team assembled heading into the 2024 Washington Husky football season.

And so, folks are overlooking this Washington Huskies team. It remains to be seen if that comes back to bite them a bit.

Jedd Fisch, Washington Huskies football team overlooked in 2024 preseason coaches poll top 25 college football rankings

As we get the 2024 college football season underway, Kirby Smart's Georgia Bulldogs take the top spot in the preseason coaches poll top 25 rankings. The Ohio State Buckeyes and Oregon Ducks sit at No. 2 and No. 3 respectively.

At No. 4, we've got the Texas Longhorns. Over at No. 5, Kalen DeBoer and the Alabama Crimson Tide sit. Lane Kiffin has the Ole Miss Rebels at No. 6 while the Notre Dame Fighting Irish start the season off at No. 7.

Even though they also have a ton of new components on their team after a ton of turnover from last season to this coming one, the Michigan Wolverines snagged the No. 8 spot in the preseason rankings.

James Franklin and the Penn State Nittany Lions sit at No. 9 while the Florida State Seminoles close out the top 10. Here's what the full top 25 preseason coaches poll rankings look like heading into this season.

  1. Georgia Bulldogs
  2. Ohio State Buckeyes
  3. Oregon Ducks
  4. Texas Longhorns
  5. Alabama Crimson Tide
  6. Ole Miss Rebels
  7. Notre Dame Fighting Irish
  8. Michigan Wolverines
  9. Penn State Nittany Lions
  10. Florida State Seminoles
  11. Missouri Tigers
  12. LSU Tigers
  13. Utah Utes
  14. Clemson Tigers
  15. Tennessee Volunteers
  16. Oklahoma Sooners
  17. Kansas State Wildcats
  18. Oklahoma State Cowboys
  19. Miami Hurricanes
  20. Texas A&M Aggies
  21. Arizona Wildcats
  22. NC State Wolfpack
  23. USC Trojans
  24. Kansas Jayhawks
  25. Iowa Hawkeyes

While with the AP rankings you had to scroll a bit further to find the Washington Huskies, the Coaches Poll top 25 rankings have Washington sitting just outside of the top 25 teams. If we were to count teams receiving votes as being ranked, the Huskies hold the No. 26 spot.

It's weird to see given that Washington made it to the national championship game and looked great pretty much all along the way, but it does make a bit of sense. We'll see if the Huskies can prove they deserve to be ranked this season.
