Washington football Round 1 draft reactions: Falcons fans upset over Michael Penix Jr.
The Washington Huskies are having one of their best NFL Drafts to date as three players were selected in the first round and Top 20: QB Michael Penix Jr. (Atlanta Falcons), WR Rome Odunze (Chicago Bears), and OL Troy Fautanu (Pittsburgh Steelers).
This is the first time the Huskies have had three players selected in the first round since 2015 when Danny Shelton (Browns at 12), Marcus Peters (Chiefs at 15), and Shaq Thompson (Panthers at 25) were chosen.
Washington is one of three teams to see at least three players go in the first round this year along with LSU and Alabama.
QB Michael Penix Jr reactions
There's a lot of disagreement going around about the Atlanta Falcons selecting Michael Penix Jr. with the 8th overall pick.
Some find it to be an exceptionally good selection—
— while others find it laughable. The Falcons had just signed Kirk Cousin to a four-year $180 million deal before drafting Penix early in the draft. Most fans' concerns relate to his age and three previous season-ending injuries.
WR Rome Odunze reactions
I don't care what anyone says—Rome Odunze is the best wide receiver in this draft despite being the third receiver selected behind Marvin Harrison (Cardinals at 4) and Malik Nabers (Giants at 6).
The Chicago Bears are doing everything they can to rebuild their offense and adding QB Caleb Williams and Odunze is just insane (in a good way).
McMillan should expect to hear his name called tomorrow on Day 2.
OL Troy Fautanu reactions
Troy Fautanu is one of the best tackles in the draft and will now go to Pittsburgh to protect Russell Wilson and Justin Fields. Funny enough, he celebrated the Steelers in a past tweet.
