Northwestern fans upset as Washington Huskies claim solid win in Big Ten opener
By Ethan Lee
Saturday afternoon, the Washington Huskies were able to get a pretty impressive win against the Northwestern Wildcats. While Washington didn’t really blow the Wildcats away, the Huskies did get an early lead and found a way to steadily build upon that early and then play dominant defense to hold on to win by 19 points.
It’s not bad given that this was Washington’s first matchup against a Big Ten foe as a member of the conference and that so much of this roster and coaching staff is still brand new. This team is still getting a feel for itself and figuring out what it is.
And right now, it’s certainly better than the Northwestern Wildcats. Washington looked decent Saturday afternoon, beating the Wildcats by a sizable margin.
19 points. 24 to 5. Washington won in a noteworthy way. The Huskies, especially on defense, looked like they belong. There is growth and improvement to be done on the offense, but this defense might be something special.
Northwestern Wildcats fans react after falling flat against Washington Huskies in Husky Stadium
Right now, it looks like Northwestern fans aren’t all that amused. And who can really blame them? The Wildcats looked horrendous against the Washington Huskies on Saturday. While Washington fans do have some legitimate concerns about how sustainable things are with this team, Northwestern fans are much more incensed about the way their team looks right now.
And that’s fair! Northwestern is struggling right now and they were struggling before this game and it really looks like they’ll continue to struggle as they move forward.
Some have even started calling for a coaching change. Which, you know, is par for the course with college sports.
The Wildcats aren’t really all that happy right now! So, that’s something to take home, I guess. Washington has a lot of improving that it can be doing right now, but at least the Huskies aren’t Northwestern right now, I guess.
