Despite leaving Arizona for Washington in 2024, Jedd Fisch has continued to recruit high-profile talents from the Grand Canyon State. Now, he’s on the verge of adding another big name to that group: Four-star quarterback prospect Blake Roskopf, who yesterday received an official Rivals prediction to land in Montlake.

Blake Roskopf, who stands 6-foot-5 and 225 pounds, is an imposing on-field presence for Goodyear, Ariz.'s Desert Edge High School. He’s rated a four-star prospect by both Rivals and 247Sports, and is ranked by the former as the nation’s No. 101 overall player, the nation’s No. 8 quarterback, and Arizona’s No. 2 overall player. He’s a true pocket-passer with excellent arm strength and the ability to make throws quickly.

Roskopf’s blue-chip status has earned him plenty of attention from other teams. He’s taken unofficial visits to seven schools (Washington, Oregon, UCLA, North Carolina, Missouri, Ole Miss, and Stanford) and is set to take an official visit to North Carolina in June. However, the Huskies have emerged from that pack of contenders as clear favorites to land Roskopf’s talents.

Roskopf’s official Rivals prediction came on Monday morning from national recruiting analyst Brandon Huffman. Huffman only rated his pick a 60/100 in terms of confidence, but Husky fans should feel secure given that Rivals currently gives UW an 88.1% chance of landing Roskopf.

Why are Washington’s odds of earning a commitment from Roskopf so high? Fisch and company’s efforts can’t be discounted, but it probably helps that Roskopf is also being recruited by one of his own top playmakers.

Zerek Sidney may be the key to landing high school teammate Blake Roskopf

Washington’s 2027 recruiting class currently features a quartet of four-star recruits, including Desert Edge wide receiver Zerek Sidney. Sidney, who committed to the Huskies in January, has been encouraging Roskopf to follow him north. The two were both in attendance for Washington’s Junior Day weekend in early March, where Sidney reportedly pitched UW to Roskopf and other recruits in attendance.

“It was fun seeing some of my high school teammates there. I’m just pushing to get everyone to UW.” Sidney said of his visit.

Roskopf also spoke highly of his time on Montlake:

“The energy around the building stood out to me a lot,” Roskopf said following his visit. “And getting to sit down with Coach Fisch and Coach [JP] Losman was really good.”

It’s no surprise that Roskopf would be interested in following Sidney to Seattle. When the two first teamed up as sophomores in 2024, they led Desert Edge High School all the way to a 5A state title.

Though Sidney missed nearly the entire 2025 season due to injury, Roskopf looked excellent, completing 195 of 295 pass attempts for 2,815 yards, 37 TDs, and eight interceptions. If Roskopf’s production increases even further following Sidney’s return, or if the pair win another state championship, it’ll surely be tough for Roskopf to commit anywhere besides Washington.

The only current date to monitor for Roskopf’s recruitment is June 19, when he’ll return to Chapel Hill for a second visit with Bill Belichick’s North Carolina Tarheels. However, if Washington’s recruiting momentum holds, Fisch and Sidney could earn a commitment from the Arizona passer long before he ever takes that visit.
