The Washington Huskies held a press conference today with coach Jedd Fisch and a handful of players. Among those players was Demond Williams Jr. It was his first presser since the transfer debacle that left most Washington Husky fans with a sour taste in their mouth about even letting him play for the Huskies again. He was lobbed a few softball questions, and his answers didn't help his case at all.

His answer to what happened was less than 40 seconds, and it was clearly rehearsed, full of cliches, and mostly deflected any of what happened. He referenced right off the bat that he's only 19 and that, "Everybody gets bad advice at times...We're all human; we all make mistakes. At the end of the day, I'm super blessed to be here with all my brothers and my coaches...I'm at the University of Washington and I'm so happy to here...this is where God has placed me. "

I don't know who Williams' PR team is, but that's about as soft and canned an answer as you can get. For a fanbase that needs to hear more from him, that doesn't help, and Husky fans were quick to point out how lacking his answer truly was.

These aren't the only Husky fans listening to his answer and wondering why it was so weak. In a moment where Williams could have won fans back with a heartfelt response and a raised hand with a "I messed up." He bailed on using excuses like his age and bad advice. And while those are legitimate things, neither takes actual responsibility; it only deflects it.

It's become evident that now the only way Husky fans are won back is when Williams wins on the field. That's the solution, and yet, if he doesn't repair his reputation, even that will feel tainted for many fans. There's still a very real possibility that Williams is booed the first time he walks out of the tunnel at Husky Stadium. He's done nothing to fix that.
