In major coaching news, Creighton's Greg McDermott has announced he is retiring this offseason. That news will send ripples throughout the college basketball world, and one of those ripples may end up hitting the Washington Huskies. There's a player who hails from Seattle but currently plays in Utah, who Danny Sprinkle recruited heavily before 4-star combo guard Katrelle Harmon ultimately committed to McDermott and Creighton.

Harmon signed his letter of intent, but with the coaching change, he will be able to ask for a release if he so desires. As he has yet to do that, it's currently only a "watch and see" news. He's certainly a player that Washington would love to have, and Sprinkle tried to grab him the first time. If he does become available, Sprinkle has to be hoping he won't miss again.

Katrelle Harmon is a name that could jump out of Creighton's recruiting class after McDermott retired

Harmon is a 6'3, 188-pound guard currently playing at Wasatch Academy in Mount Pleasant, Utah. He's listed as a 4-star recruit and ranked 105 in his class. He is originally from Seattle, and that connection may end up helping Washington if he does jump back into the recruiting cycle.

Harmon's final list before choosing Creighton was the Oregon Ducks, Alabama Crimson Tide, Iowa Hawkeyes, Rutgers Scarlet Knights, and the Washington Huskies. It's unclear how close he was to pulling the trigger on one of the other schools, but Sprinkle has exactly zero recruits for 2026. Whatever his budget is for high school recruits for next season, he can pony up a little more for Harmon if needed.

That may be one of the surprising facts for Sprinkle this season is how he hasn't been able to land any of his recruits in the 2026 class. He was able to bring in six last year, including potential lottery pick Hannes Steinbach.

Maybe, just maybe, Harmon will open back up and Sprinkle can bring him in the fold.
