Utah State continues to search for new coaches. It's almost a bi-yearly tradition for the Aggies, and while it has to be frustrating for the school, it's financially beneficial for them too. With current Utah State head coach Jerrod Calhoun leaving for Cincinnati, the Aggies are owed $3.9 million, according to Pete Thamel.
The crazy part, Washington is still paying them for Danny Sprinkle from a few seasons ago. The painful part for the Huskies is that they've yet to see any return on investment from that coaching hire. It's been pitiful for the Dawgs, and many fans would love to just ship Sprinkle back to Utah State.
Utah State also receives monthly installments from Washington for Danny Sprinkle’s buyout through March 2028, which on Wednesday will hit $1.44 mil to date of the ~$2.9 mil total buyout owed https://t.co/zGwCRkrH49

Washington is still actively paying Utah State for Danny Sprinkle
It's painful to know that monthly installments that have now reached almost $1.44 million and eventually will get up to $2.9 million are being shipped out the Husky door. That money could be going to help the basketball program in many other ways. Sprinkle hasn't been able to figure it out for Washington yet after another disappointing season.
The hard part is that Sprinkle seemed like a good hire at the time. He was a fast-rising coach who had helped Utah State become a force in the Mountain West. Sprinkle also had ties to the area with a father who was a Husky. It was a homerun, but it's been anything but so far.
Yes, there are people demanding more time and he will get it due to his enormous contract and buyout. However, he went 13-18 in his first season and followed it up with a 16-17 season. This season was full of disappointments in other ways, too, with injuries, roster issues, and players even quitting on the team.
It's hard to see Sprinkle figuring it all out, and it's frustrating to see the money being flushed down the toilet, but he will have more time, and hopefully I, as well as other Washington Husky fans who don't believe he can turn it around, will eat our words.
