Danny Sprinkle is having a tough time this offseason rebuilding his Husky roster. It came together fairly easily last season with a ton of depth and talent. Depth he ultimately needed desperately as injury after injury hit Washington basketball. This season, he's putting bits and pieces together, hoping it all works out. Well, now one of those pieces is reportedly thinking about his commitment to Washington and considering changing his mind.
According to a report out of Brazil, and Kevin Cacabelos, Wini Braga, the recently committed international big to the Huskies, is debating whether to actually come to Washington or not. His status is very uncertain. He may just continue to play in Brazil as part of his pro league. This is a disaster for Sprinkle.

Wini Braga's decision to come to Washington is now very up in the air

This could not be a worse year for Sprinkle to have this happen. He's already working with spare parts on the roster, and a lack of overall depth. This would be a brutal blow, especially as Sprinkle seemed to be hoping that Braga could bring a point guard with him.
Sprinkle has lost nine players this offseason to either graduation, the NBA Draft, or transfer. He has only brought in five. The hard part for Sprinkle is that he lost three extremely talented players in Hannes Steinbach, Zoom Diallo, and JJ Mandaquit. All would have been starters and high-volume producers this next season.
To replace them, there's only been one high-end transfer: LeJuan Watts. You could argue that Ryan Beasley is another high-profile transfer, but then, when you put him up against Mandaquit or Diallo, it's hard to really compare.
This is the "disaster" part for Sprinkle. The roster that underperformed last season with top-end guys is now projected to be worse this season. In a season that Sprinkle can't afford to let the program sink even lower. Things are bleak right now for UW basketball, and there aren't a ton of options out there. Which is why an international approach was probably the best option, but now that has also fallen through.
Sprinkle's biggest priority right now is to keep Braga in the fold and then find two or three more high-volume players to really compete in the Big Ten next season. Or it's another down year, and Sprinkle will be doomed.
