Former Washington Husky and one of the top cornerbacks in the NFL, Trent McDuffie, found himself at the middle of a blockbuster trade. The Kansas City Chiefs have shipped him to the Los Angeles Rams and have returned a treasure trove of a bounty. According to Ian Rapoport, the Rams get McDuffie, and the Chiefs get back the Rams No. 29th pick in the first round, a 5th, 6th, and a 3rd round pick next year. Woah.

Trent McDuffie is returning to the West Coast, but also showcasing how impressive a player he is, with what the Rams had to give up to get him. It also puts him back with Jimmy Lake, the Washington coach who helped bring him to Washington and develop him. Lake is a senior defensive assistant for the Rams, and you have to assume he had a big hand in this trade.

Trent McDuffie is one of the stars of the league and has been part of two different Super Bowl victories. He's considered one of the top cornerbacks in the game and can put star receivers on an island. He's known for both his ability to track the ball in the air and bring in interceptions and for being a hard-hitting lockdown corner.

The Huskies continue to put elite defensive back talent in the NFL. McDuffie is just one example. Marcus Peters won Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2015 and was an All-Pro multiple times. Budda Baker has been a force for years and is considered one of the top safeties over the last decade. Kyler Gordon, Desmond Trufant, Sidney Jones, and Kevin King, to name a few more.

Now the Huskies are actually sending two more top-level defensive backs to the NFL in Tacario Davis and Ephesians Prysock. Both absolutely wowed at the NFL Combine. For the measurables as much as for their showcasing in the drills.

McDuffie has proven he is valuable by how much the Rams have to give up; now Davis and Prysock will showcase again how Husky corners are valuable. Both will end up going higher than their draft expectation. Why? They are long, lean, skilled, and some of the best coming out of college. Now, they also have "Washington Husky" next to their name. That's a school that's come to be synonymous with defensive backs.
