3 Louisville Cardinals that Washington Huskies fans need to know for the Sun Bowl

Jedd Fisch and the Washington Huskies are going to face a pretty intriguing challenge when they take on Jeff Brohm and the Louisville Cardinals. This is a Louisville team that did really well on both sides of the ball this season, but there are some key contributors missing for the Cardinals in the upcoming 2024 Sun Bowl.

That means that Louisville will face a challenge in adjusting the way it approaches this game, but Washington will also have to anticipate those changes without having an abundance of knowledge about the ways that Louisville will change.

Bowl games are interesting these days, folks. 

This season, Louisville averaged upwards of 36 points per game while holding opponents to 23 points per game, but the Cardinals won’t have some key members from both the offense and defense due to players opting out to prepare for the 2024 NFL Draft. 

So, who should we know about ahead of the 2024 Sun Bowl? Well, let’s go ahead and get familiar with three dynamic athletes on the Louisville roster before the Huskies meet up with them in El Paso.

3 Louisville Cardinals that Washington Huskies fans should know for the 2024 Sun Bowl

Here are just three Cardinals that could provide some headaches to Washington during the 2024 Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl:

  • Isaac Brown, running back - Arguably one of the most talented running backs in the country, Isaac Brown was a force to be reckoned with and he racked up over 1000 yards and 11 touchdowns while averaging 7.3 yards per carry.
  • Duke Watson, running back - Yes, we’re talking about a second Louisville running back as Duke Watson averages 9.0 yards per carry and scored seven touchdowns this season, making him a dangerous element of this offense that we’ll likely see a lot of in the Sun Bowl.
  • Tamarion McDonald, safety - On the defensive side of things, Tamarion McDonald might cause some problems for Demond Williams Jr. as the freshman makes his second collegiate start. McDonald has over 50 combined tackles on the season, an interception, and a couple sacks. He’s active all over the place for the Cardinals.

The Huskies will have their hands full in this game. While guys like Tyler Shough are sitting out to prepare for the NFL Draft, that doesn’t mean the Louisville Cardinals don’t still have dangerous talent on their roster.
