Happy A-Day Hop!

Now it’s the one-year anniversary of hiring Coach Hopkins. On the day the team faces stiff competition of round two of the NIT, Coach Hopkins has been with the team one year.

In the grand scheme of “what have you done for me lately”, the one-year anniversary is overflowing with the actual performance far exceeding even the most optimistic expectations.

Win or lose, the team is trending up

Normally, an optimistic narrative would not come out before the big game. Let’s face it, Saint Mary’s poses a huge roadblock to any hope for the Washington Baskeball team to win the 2018 NIT.  But that’s why this article is important to happen before the big game.  Win or lose, the Washington Basketball team is trending up. Let’s take stock of why that is.

The team has exceeded expectations for the 2017-2018 season. Small forward Matisse Thybulle earned the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year award. The team welcomes a 2018 recruiting class which truly fills huge needs for the team. And the team is still in the running for one of the best big men in the nation in Bryan Penn-Johnson, who announces his decision on March 21, 2018.  It is a good time to be a Washington Basketball fan. But it’s getting better all the time.
