DE Josiah Bronson suffered a tragic broken leg in preseason for the Temple Owls. Now, he can upgrade his remaining three years of NCAA eligibility with the University of Washington Football team

If you plant it, they will come.”- Field of Dreams. In many ways, there are occasions where I ponder that line from the movie.  On one hand, what does it mean?  On the other hand, could it apply to every instance of blind trust?  And finally,  when it comes to the Washington Football team, the meaning doesn’t require much interpretation.  To be honest, it seems like a natural fit to what head coach Chris Petersen is trying to accomplish with the Washington Football program.

While high school students haven’t caught on to the success offered at the University of Washington Football program  just yet, transfer students appear to recognize a great football team when they see it.  So far the team has attracted some promising under-the-radar talent.  As a matter of fact, the team has lined up offensive lineman Chase Skuza, defensive end Jarryn Bush, and now defensive end Josiah Bronson.

Give me your tired, your poor, your football players…

Chase Skuza is a 2017 four-year eligible offensive tackle who had originally signed for a scholarship to play for Central Washington University.  Jarryn Bush likewise was a Central Washington University commit, and once more, he simply didn’t feel the “fit” when he got there. He is a defensive end and is eager to fill whatever role given by the coaches.

Now, the Washington Football team has a new and unexpected player in the mix. The latest and greatest to don purple is defensive end Josiah Bronson. And he’s a solid addition in many ways.

The outlaw Josiah Bronson (eat your heart out Josey Wales)

Bronson is a 6-foot-5 265 pound muscular behemoth who is the type of player who will resurrect his football aspirations in Seattle. While he didn’t gain much traction at Temple University, you can bet he will make a positive impact with the Huskies. But this team has even more whose names are not common knowledge.

It seems that players want to play for UW.

Size matters

The truly nice thing about Bronson is that 6-foot-5 265 pound stature.  With that, Bronson can fill a role at either a defensive end or a defensive tackle position.  Right now, there is a great deal of interest for this team to reinforce the interior defensive line.

UPDATED: Team sources have confirmed for me that Bronson will play defensive tackle.   That’s not only great news for the team, but great news for the player.  And while it’s not the way I expected, it does fill a DT role for the month of July 2017 (which pushes me to four out of five predictions correct)

Bronson brings that versatility. He has a solid background all along the defensive front.  Right now, the Huskies need that level of versatility.  He is strong enough to play the interior, and tall enough to generate plenty of leverage to get to the passer and set the edge.

Even more to the point, Bronson is coming to the Huskies hungry for playing time and eager to earn some. The measure of a true Husky is that fight within. Bronson has all of that and then some.
