3 Reasons Washington Huskies WBB Hiring Coach Jody Wynn Means Melancholy
By Bret Stuter
The University of Washington Huskies Women’s Basketball Program Announced the hiring of head coach Jody Wynn. On the surface, I’m happy for the program and for the Coach Wynn. But I have three reasons for my melancholy mood
New head coach Jody Winn knows when to make an entrance. The University of Washington Huskies Women’s Basketball Program ended the 2016-2017 season is style. The program launched guard Kelsey Plum and forward Chantel Osahor into the WNBA, and former head coach Mike Neighbors into his life-long dream job as head coach of the University of Arkansas Women’s Basketball team head coach. While the team did not win the NCAA Women’s basketball tournament this year, the team did advance to the Elite Eight this year after climbing all the way to the Final Four last year.
But the season did end. And in the wake of Mike Neighbors exodus for a chance to coach his “home town” team, the University of Washington Athletics department found itself once more facing an opening at head coach of a basketball team. While the search did not conclude as rapidly as the two-day search and hire of Men’s basketball head coach Mike Hopkins, progress did occur.

Search Focuses
Ultimately, the search began to narrow a week ago to the point where names surfaced with descriptions of “mutual interest” and “Focus upon” with former Long Beach State University head coach Jody Wynn.
The hire was announced this week.
So why do I not share in the congratulatory and celebratory mood? Well, sometimes expressing oneself intelligently over a melancholy mood is less than worthwhile. But I believe I can express three reasons for my hesitancy to pop the champagne cork on this hire.
