Tony is taking his talents to…

Enough said. Big day for the Dawgs today as Tony Wroten Jr. has chosen to attend the University of Washington following his announcement at Garfield.

Tony played with each of the hats, starting with Louisville saying “Louisville is nice.”

He followed suit by playing with the UW hat saying “UW is nice too.”

And finally he played with the Villanova hat.

And finally his six friends behind him unveiled University of Washington T-shirts leading to raucous ovation from the fans. It was nuts. UW foam fingers were then tossed into the stands. Griffin was lucky enough to grab one.

Re-live the madness here:

And with that, Romar snags his biggest recruit in his history of coaching at UW. No disrespect to QPon, IT, Gaddy, Spencer Hawes or Jon Brockman, but the hype and potential of Wroten supersedes all of them. Though Wroten only show four stars on all of his profiles, don’t let that fool you (nor does it matter). Wroten is one of the best, if not THE BEST point guard in the nation. He is right on par with Marquis Teague and he will be looked upon to be an immediate contributor from the day he steps on campus.

The bittersweet news of the day occurred 45 minutes prior to Tony announcing as Jabari Brown decided to enroll at Oregon. Definitely a surprise to me, but it may be the best choice for him given that their team will be built around his talents. Coupled with Kingma in the backcourt, they have a solid foundation to be somewhat relevant in 2011. It’s clear to me that Jabari is concerned about going to the NBA and going to a team where he could be the centerpiece is the best way to do that.

All in all, UW got a commitment from the better of the two in my opinion. Look forward to a lot of this in 2011:
