The aforementioned Chris Petersen left a memorable legacy for Husky fans, going 55-26 in his tenure that included two Pac-12 titles and the program's first appearance in the College Football Playoffs. Coming over from Boise State where he left a similarly legendary mark, Petersen took over for Steve Sarkisian - who abandoned UW for USC before the season was even over.

Petersen's first and second seasons with Washington might give fans the best glimpse of what a realistic expectation is for Fisch going into his second year. Petersen led Washington to an 8-6 record in his first season, with their only losses at the hands of ranked opponents and in their bowl game.

In year two, Petersen and the Huskies went a pedestrian 7-6, but claimed a satisfying revenge-game victory over Sarkisian's ranked USC Trojans on the road. All the while, Petersen used these first two years to build up recruiting classes that ultimately formed the powerhouse teams he utilized in his subsequent seasons - something Fisch hopes to replicate.

Jake Browning, Washington's all-time passing leader, played his first season during Petersen's second year as head coach. Perhaps that is a sign of destiny as Williams enters his first full season as a starter under Fisch in year two.
