In what will be arguably the toughest test of the season up to this point for Tina Langley’s Washington Huskies basketball team, UW will be tasked with taking on the Ohio State Buckeyes in Columbus. And while just facing Ohio State would likely be a ridiculously difficult task for this Washington women’s basketball team, the fact that it’s in Columbus makes things even more difficult.
Washington enters this game with a 13-8 overall record and the Huskies are 4-5 in Big Ten play. Meanwhile, the Buckeyes are 19-1 overall so far this season and are 8-1 in Big Ten play. UW is fresh off back-to-back losses to the Iowa Hawkeyes and Indiana Hoosiers.
And now, on the road, they’re going to take on an Ohio State Buckeyes team that hasn’t lost a single home game so far this season. Which, you know, that’s impressive stuff. And it makes things even more difficult for Langley and the Huskies.
Can the Washington Huskies women’s basketball team find a way to find some success on the road against the Ohio State Buckeyes?
Because Washington has a pretty concerning road record this season. To summarize things in a hurry, Washington is wildly inconsistent in road games so far this season.
Entering this game, the Huskies are 2-3 in games away from Seattle this year. That includes a 13-point loss to the Michigan Wolverines in Ann Arbor, a 12-point loss to the Michigan State Spartans in East Lansing, a nine-point win over the Illinois Fighting Illini in Champaign, a 19-point win over Northwestern in Evanston, and a 14-point loss to the Montana Grizzlies in Missoula.
What a roller coaster of wins and losses, right? There’s some truly great teams in that bunch and then some less-than-impressive teams.
The Buckeyes are a dominant team at home. That 10-0 record is a worrisome thing. Langley and the Huskies women’s basketball team certainly have their work cut out for them in this game.
