Will Rogers ranks among best in Big Ten in completion percentage after week 9
By Ethan Lee
While this season has been full of some ups and downs, it’s still clear that Will Rogers is an incredibly efficient quarterback. That was true in Starkville when he played for the Mississippi State Bulldogs and it’s true once more now in Seattle as he competes for the Washington Huskies.
In UW’s first season in the Big Ten, Rogers has been critiqued extensively by Washington Huskies fans. Still, right now, he’s ranking at No. 4 in the conference’s quarterbacks with an impressive 72.3 percent completion percentage.
Rogers hasn’t been perfect, but he’s been doing a pretty decent job for a quarterback that is learning a new offense and is competing for a team that is in the midst of a rebuild. Right now, Rogers is sitting behind Dillon Gabriel, Kurtis Rourke, and Will Howard.
Interestingly enough, the three quarterbacks he’s trailing are all playing for teams that happen to be college football playoff contenders this season.
Big Ten quarterback passing completion percentage top 10 after week 9
Here’s how the quarterbacks in the Big Ten rank amongst each other in this category after nine weeks of the 2024 College Football season:
- Dillon Gabriel (Oregon Ducks) - 76.2 percent - 192 completions on 252 attempts
- Kurtis Rourke (Indiana Hoosiers) - 74.6 percent - 135 completions on 181 attempts
- Will Howard (Ohio State Buckeyes) - 74.0 percent - 134 completions on 181 attempts
- Will Rogers (Washington Huskies) - 72.3 percent - 172 completions on 238 attempts
- Drew Allar (Penn State Nittany Lions) - 71.3 percent - 117 completions on 164 attempts
- Max Brosmer (Minnesota Golden Gophers) - 69.5 percent - 169 completions on 243 attempts
- Billy Edwards Jr. (Maryland Terrapins) - 68.4 percent - 214 completions on 313 attempts
- Dylan Raiola (Nebraska Cornhuskers) - 66.1 percent - 162 completions on 245 attempts
- Miller Moss (USC Trojans) - 65.1 percent - 203 completions on 312 attempts
- Ethan Garbers (UCLA Bruins) - 64.9 percent - 124 completions on 191 attempts
That’s a decent spot for Rogers. I can’t think of a time that people have ever really questioned how accurate he can be. And he’s demonstrating that he can be pretty dang good in this category.
