Danny Sprinkle and his Washington Huskies basketball team are trying to get a foundation established on Montlake. Year one in the Big Ten has been rough and Sprinkle’s first season in Seattle hasn’t exactly been what some would describe as “fun.” And that’s not exactly Sprinkle’s fault. This is a rebuilding process that is going to take some time.
And what’s interesting is Washington has, on occasion, shown some pretty interesting potential. But one thing that has truly eluded the Huskies so far this season is the ability to win a game away from home in Alaska Airlines Arena.
Washington, currently in the midst of a mucky, sloppy six-game losing streak and sitting at 10-10 overall and 1-8 in Big Ten play, is an abysmal 0-5 in road games. Which, you know, that might just be the worst part of this inaugural Big Ten season for the Huskies.
Can the Washington Huskies men’s basketball team actually get a road win for the first time this season when UW faces Minnesota?
The Huskies have to be hoping and praying for the first Big Ten road win in program history. Because there’s just not much else that’s really working for Sprinkle and the Huskies in road games. Washington is 8-5 at home, which isn’t horrifying. That’s not bad at all.
Heck, in neutral site matchups, Washington is unbeaten! (By the way, it’s totally worth noting that UW is just 2-0 in neutral site games so far this season, but statistics are fun and we’re going to enjoy claiming that UW is unbeaten in neutral site matchups).
Unfortunately, Minnesota has a pretty decent chance of winning when considering that the Golden Gophers are 10-4 at home this season. But, in Big Ten play, the Golden Gophers are just 2-3 at home. So, maybe that’s an indicator that something fun might happen here?
