The 2024 Sun Bowl is upon us and that means we get to watch football in El Paso. This year, the 2024 Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl is featuring the Washington Huskies (previously of the Pac-12, now in the Big Ten conference) with a 6-6 overall record and a 4-5 conference record facing off against the Louisville Cardinals (of the ACC, of course) boasting an 8-4 overall record and a 5-4 conference record.
This will be Washington’s fifth trip out to El Paso for the Sun Bowl, but it’s been over 20 years since Washington last competed here as the last trip was in 2002.
Both the Cardinals and the Huskies are looking to get a win and end the season with a fair bit of momentum rolling into the offseason. But Washington definitely needs this win if the Huskies are going to secure a winning record for their 2024 season. That’s not an issue for Louisville.
Washington is in its first season in the Big Ten and this is also the first year that Jedd Fisch is the head coach in Seattle. This year has been one that has been dominated by change (new conference, new coach, and functionally a new roster). And it would be great to end the season with a Sun Bowl win.

That’s not to say that this season hasn’t had some good moments. There was the 27-17 win over the No. 10 ranked Michigan Wolverines in Husky Stadium. A good bit of revenge for the Huskies considering the way last season ended in the national title game.
But a win to end the season would be a great thing as well.
Especially considering how the Huskies are meeting up with a Louisville team that boasts a dominant offense. The Cardinals are scoring over 36 points per game and they’ve been able to diversify the way they’ve attacked defenses this season.
