We’re now headed into the second year of Jedd Fisch and the Washington Husky football program being in the Big Ten. This isn’t UW’s inaugural run through the conference. This is a chance for UW to go ahead and build upon the foundation the Huskies started to establish last season. And with the way Washington saw some successes and struggles in 2024, there are a lot of lessons learned for UW to carry forward.
And in the second season of the Washington Huskies being in the Big Ten, Fisch and the Huskies will get the distinct pleasure of taking on some of the biggest and most imposing teams in the conference. As it turns out, that will be the case for UW in its first Big Ten game of the 2025 Washington Husky football schedule.
So, uh, every lesson that Washington learned last season better get applied in a hurry because the defending national champs, Ryan Day and the Ohio State Buckeyes, will be coming to Alaska Airlines Field at Husky Stadium early in the 2025 college football season.
When will the Washington Huskies play their first Big Ten game of the 2025 football season?
For Jedd Fisch and the Huskies, conference play will get underway when the Huskies and Buckeyes face off on September 27, 2025. No pressure or anything, folks. This is just the defending national champions. No big deal or anything. It’s not like they pummeled just about everyone they faced this past season or anything.
Except Michigan, that is. Washington could beat Michigan. Ohio State (and Alabama) couldn’t. Weird world that we live in sometimes.
Anyways, the Huskies will prepare for that Big Ten matchup with the Buckeyes by getting the season started against the Colorado State Rams and UC Davis Aggies before taking a bye week. Following the bye week, UW will face the Washington State Cougars in the Apple Cup. And then after the Apple Cup is when Big Ten play starts with Ohio State.
