Giles Jackson did everything he possibly could to keep the Washington Huskies in the game against the Louisville Cardinals. The senior wide receiver routinely made spectacular catches to help his team in what would be his final game. And he accomplished quite a bit in the process, showcasing an incredible burst of athleticism and strength all throughout the game.
As the Washington Huskies were down by two scores late in the game, in the midst of a 97-yard drive with the clock winding down, Jackson made what was yet another impressive and stunning catch for the Huskies in the 2024 Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl.
With 3:42 remaining on the clock, the senior wide receiver hauled in what was his third touchdown reception of the game. If it feels like Jackson tried to put the team on his back and carry them to victory, well, he kinda did.
Watch: Washington Huskies wide receiver Giles Jackson snags 3rd touchdown pass of 2024 Sun Bowl with 31-yard reception
On the 31-yard touchdown, Jackson did well to create separation between him and the Louisville Cardinals defensive back. He got down towards the end zone and was functionally wide open with a Cardinals defender trailing a few yards behind him.
That allowed Demond Williams Jr. to launch a ball from the 31-yard line through the air and right into Jackson’s hands as he entered the end zone. It looked effortless. There’s no way it was effortless, but that’s how it looked.
You should watch the play:
The Huskies are going to miss Jackson and the steady productivity he brings to this offense, but it’s exciting to see the sort of potential that Williams has and how he can elevate an offense in a hurry. The connection that he had with Jackson in this game was incredible and he deserves a share of the credit for that as well.
It’ll be fun to see who he connects with next season and how often that connection takes place. If it’s anything like the 2024 Sun Bowl with Giles Jackson, then next year’s offense is going to be a lot of fun to watch.
