Giles Jackson sure had one incredible end to his time with the Washington Huskies. It’s unfortunate that the Huskies weren’t able to come out on top of the 2024 Sun Bowl against the Louisville Cardinals, but Jackson did all that he could possibly do to help Washington have an incredible game.
And that includes catching all of the touchdown passes that true freshman quarterback Demond Williams Jr. threw. For much of the game, that meant catching passes of over 30 yards. But the fourth touchdown pass that Jackson caught? Well, that was in a high stakes situation late in the game on the goalline.
Jackson’s one-yard touchdown catch with just nine seconds remaining in the game was almost enough to get the Huskies a comeback Sun Bowl win over the Louisville Cardinals. Unfortunately, the two-point conversion attempt fell short and Washington’s comeback attempt ended as the Louisville Cardinals survived, winning in El Paso by a score of 35-34.
That doesn’t take away from how cool this touchdown catch was though.

The play was arguably the most important one of the game (up to that point, at least). On fourth down from the one yard line, Washington needed someone to come through in a huge way. And Williams was able to connect with Jackson by tossing the ball towards the senior wide receiver on a fade.
Thankfully, with no margin for error, Jackson was able to bring the pass down, allowing the Huskies to put the score at 35-34. Jackson deserves so much credit for what he was able to do for Washington in this game and it’s such a shame that he doesn’t get to celebrate a win here.

Unfortunately, Jackson won’t be back next season. This flurry of touchdown passes tossed by Williams to Jackson was the last time we’ll get to see this connection take place for the Huskies. But, it did showcase the immense potential that the young quarterback has. And that’s encouraging.
