The Washington Huskies got a monumental performance from Giles Jackson in the 2024 Sun Bowl. Seemingly whenever Washington needed Jackson to step up and make a play, he was there to have an impact on the game for the Huskies.
He was an incredible component of Washington’s passing attack and the Huskies definitely needed him to help true freshman quarterback Demond Williams Jr. throughout this game. Arguably, Jackson’s presence made things a bit more manageable for the young signal caller.
And when the Huskies were trailing the Louisville Cardinals early on after Williams tossed a pick six that gave the Cardinals some early momentum, he was able to connect with his senior wide receiver to help tie things back up.
This play was incredible and it was just one of the many impressive catches that Jackson made against Louisville in El Paso.
Watch: Washington Huskies wide receiver Giles Jackson grabs 40-yard touchdown pass in the Sun Bowl vs. Louisville Cardinals
This pass was, up to this point in the game, the longest completion of Demond Williams Jr.’s career. It was incredible. On first-and-10 from the Louisville 40 yard line, Williams hurled the ball through the air and connected with Jackson, who brought the pass in and tied things up at 7-7 with a little over eight minutes left in the first quarter.
Check this touchdown pass out:
Look at him go up in the air, grab the ball, land on the defender in the end zone, and hold on to the ball all the way throughout the collision! That’s incredible. The strength that it takes to pull off a feat like that while colliding with the defender and then the earth is pretty immense.
Also worth noting, Jackson timed the jump to catch that pass just perfectly and Williams threw a great pass. He stretched the field and Jackson helped take the top off the defense. It’s going to be exciting to see what Williams is able to do as the full time starting quarterback for UW.
Jackson would go on to have a monstrous performance in what would be his final game with the Huskies. This was a pretty good way to really get things started for Washington.
