Time and time again in the 2024 Sun Bowl, Demond Williams Jr., the true freshman quarterback for the Washington Huskies, made it clear that he’s going to be an exciting quarterback to watch develop. That’s because he’s already an exciting quarterback to watch and he demonstrated as much against the Louisville Cardinals in El Paso.

While he got off to a rough start by tossing a pick six to Louisville’s defense, Williams did all that he could to elevate the Huskies in the Sun Bowl. And it’s safe to say that his well-rounded performance did just that as he routinely made huge throws and incredible runs.

Giles Jackson was often on the other end of those passes and the senior wide receiver managed to catch four touchdown throws from Washington’s true freshman quarterback. But before halftime rolled around, Williams managed to scoot into the end zone, proving that he is one of the most dangerous running threats in the country.

Williams, seemingly effortlessly, ran past the Cardinals defense for a 7-yard touchdown run before the halftime break. And this is just one reason why Washington Husky football fans are looking forward to what next season will hold with Williams as the starting quarterback for UW.

You should check this touchdown run out:

He drops back, seemingly to pass, and then evades a Louisville pass rusher by darting outside the pocket. And then from there, Williams races towards the end zone, outrunning the closest Cardinals linebacker.

That touchdown run tied the game up at 21-21 heading into halftime and was huge for the Huskies.

Williams is such an exciting runner and the athleticism makes him seemingly the perfect sort of quarterback for what Jedd Fisch wants to run. His offenses at Arizona featured exciting, mobile quarterbacks. Now his offense on Montlake does as well.
