Have the Washington Huskies considered scoring 49 unanswered points in every game like they did against Colorado back in 2013? Because I, for one, think the Washington Huskies should do that AND gain well over 600 yards of total offense in every single game that they play.
Because if they did that, then things would likely be a lot of fun. Assuming UW’s defense just doesn’t totally evaporate due to sheer exhaustion, that is. If that assumption holds true AND Washington can score 49 unanswered points AND gain well over 600 yards of offense in a game, then we’re having a lot of fun.
There’s a pretty good example of this happening in relatively recent Washington Husky history. Let’s take a look back at 2013, when UW steamrolled right over the Colorado Buffaloes en route to one of the most dominant wins in program history in this century.
Exploring the most dominant wins in Washington Husky football history since 2000: Can we get UW to hang around 60 points on folks on a regular basis?
2013 wasn’t the best season ever, but it was pretty fun and really was actually pretty good and it had a few really exciting moments like this particular win:
- Score: Washington Huskies 59 vs. Colorado Buffaloes 7
- Margin of Victory: 52 points
- Coaches: Steve Sarkisian vs. Mike MacIntyre
- Washington's leading passer: Keith Price (22-29, 312 yards, 2 TDs, 0 INTs, 189.0 rating)
- Washington's leading rusher: Bishop Sankey (23 carries, 143 yards, 6.2 avg, 1 TD)
- Washington's final record: 9-4 (5-4 Pac-12)
- Washington's bowl destination: Fight Hunger Bowl (defeated BYU 31-16)
Washington’s offense was really, really balanced in this dominant, 52-point win over Colorado
The Huskies did a great job at just about everything in this game. Truly, it was great. Washington had 312 yards of offense through the air (shoutout to Keith Price) and then the Huskies ran for 316 yards on the ground (shoutout to Bishop Sankey and Deontae Cooper and Price again and Dwayne Washington and JEsse Callier and Cyler Miles and John Ross).
Washington got off to a strong start, took a 10-point lead, gave up a touchdown, and then scored 49 points unanswered. UW won 59-7 and it was a really enjoyable victory for the Huskies to get in the midst of a really enjoyable season.
