John Mills has it all. The true freshman stands 6-foot-6, weighs 320 pounds, and sports a blond mullet that would make even Ronnie Bass jealous. He’s also building a reputation as one of the nation’s best young offensive linemen.

On Monday, the former three-star prospect out of San Francisco’s St. Ignatius High School was named to On3’s true freshman All-American team. The honor is Mills’ third from On3, which also named Mills to its preseason and midseason teams.

It’s hard to argue against Mills’ stats. He allowed zero sacks and just eight pressures on 298 pass blocking reps, thus earning Pro Football Focus’ best pass blocking grade (84.9) among true freshman offensive linemen with 500+ snaps.

If that’s not impressive enough for you, consider the circumstances. Mills was only 17 years old when the 2025 season began. He started Washington’s first five games at left guard before suffering a foot injury which sidelined him for two weeks.

After recovering, Mills returned to his role at left guard for another two games. But after right tackle Drew Azzopardi went down against Wisconsin, Mills was forced to shift to right tackle. He started two games on the outside–without allowing a pressure in either–before moving back to guard for the season finale against Oregon.

Mills’ growing trophy collection, which also includes All-Big Ten honorable mention honors, could expand even further when other media outlets’ All-American teams come out later this month. The Associated Press, ESPN, and 247Sports are among the major outlets yet to announce their honorees.
