Washington's latest commit is a multi-sport star with insane defensive production

Jaden Walk-Green has played nearly every sport, but he's been most effective as a safety on the gridiron.

Jaden Walk-Green’s athletic resumé is simply unbelievable.

Growing up, he played football, baseball, basketball, soccer, golf, and hockey, and also swam and skied. Now, he’s Corona Centennial High School’s starting strong safety, starting kicker, starting punter, and starting kick and punt returner. He also plays center field for Corona Centennial’s baseball team, where he bats leadoff and pitches on occasion.

His latest title? University of Washington commit.

On Saturday afternoon, Walk-Green committed to the Huskies over Arizona State, UCLA, and Vanderbilt.  He’d already been crystal-balled to Washington since May 29, and took an official visit to Montlake on the weekend of June 5-7.

His commitment, which was broadcast live on CBS Sports College Football’s YouTube channel, gives Washington a total of nine blue-chip recruits, and moves the Dawgs’ 2027 recruiting class up in 247Sports’ rankings from No. 26 to No. 25.

Upon committing, Walk-Green was quick to credit safeties coach Taylor Mays, with whom he's built a strong relationship.

"I feel like he could develop me really well, " Walk-Green said of Mays, who is a former three-time All-American and a six-year NFL veteran. "He's been through this process, he's played at a really high level, and I feel like I have a really good chance of developing and being able to go to the next level from there."

Jaden Walk-Green plays safety like the center fielder he is

Walk-Green, who stands 5-foot-11 and 188 pounds, is rated a four-star prospect by On3’s Rivals, who gave him a rating of 91. He’s ranked the nation’s No. 166 overall player and No. 14 safety, as well as the No. 14 player in California. Those rankings alone merit excitement from Husky fans, but the ludicrous stats Walk-Green posted in 2025 give his commitment cause for full-blown celebration.

Walk-Green posted an eye-popping 125 tackles and 10 interceptions in 2025, five of which he returned (distances of 92, 88, 78, 68, and 49 yards) for touchdowns. He also tallied one pass breakup, one fumble recovery, one 94-yard punt return touchdown, and one blocked field goal.

Needless to say, the Corona, Calif. native’s got great ball skills, but 247Sports’ Andrew Ivins pointed out “advanced tracking skills,” strong movement in coverage, and “good mass” as other exciting features of Walk-Green’s game. Ivins also wrote that Walk-Green “should be viewed as a high-IQ defender with Power Four starter upside that can help limit big plays in the secondary.”

Limiting big plays is a safety’s job, but Walk-Green’s shown plenty of ability to make his own big plays for Corona Centennial, whose own Huskies made it all the way to California’s CIF Southern Section Division I finals in 2025.

Now, he’s staying a Husky as a member of Washington’s 2027 recruiting class, which already includes one exciting safety in three-star prospect Isala Aisa Wily-Ava. Those two young talents, alongside four-star true freshman Gavin Day and sophomore Rylon Dillard-Allen, are signs of a bright future for Washington’s always-strong secondary.

Walk-Green may be focused on his future as a safety, but he's not done with baseball, either.

"I'll be trying to play both [sports]," he told 247Sports at his commitment ceremony. "If it works out, it works out, but that's for sure something that I plan on doing.
