The Washington Huskies were able to power through Minnesota in a convincing 69-57 win at home. A great win, but it's a little too late as the season has unraveled of late, but really it was doomed from the start as Danny Sprinkle's squad can't get away from injuries. Now, one more player is on the shelf and was posted as "out" before the game even started: Bryson Tucker.
Tucker is said to have hurt his thumb in practice, and it's uncertain how long he will be recovering. It's just one more weird fluke injury on the Washington Huskies. This time, it's not a season-ending one.
The Huskies season has been riddled with injuries and has derailed any rhythm or success
The Huskies do have four players who are out for the season: Desmond Claude, JJ Mandaquit, Mady Traore, and Jasir Rencher.
There are only 10 healthy Huskies left on the roster, and all 10 of them saw action against Minnesota. With BJ Roy only seeing his third game this season. There just aren't many options left for Sprinkle as the bench literally only has five guys on it.
However, Sprinkle, after the game, praised Courtland Muldrew for being the spark behind the big win. The freshman guard came in and gave 22 minutes to the Huskies, and Sprinkle said, "It was 26-25, [Muldrew] checked in and we went on a 14-0 run."
In that same video, Sprinkle began calling on the rest of the team to be ready for their moment: "When your moment comes, you need to be ready." That's about the size of where this team is at now.
The Huskies are out of time on the season, while the big win over Minnesota tied last year's win total. They are not really in range to make the NCAA Tournament with how this season has gone. There are five games left, but it may be a little too late for the Dawgs for this season. The injuries certainly aren't helping.
