As the Washington Huskies gear up for the 2025 college football season, UW football fans are more than excited about what the offense might look like with Demond Williams Jr. at the helm as the starting quarterback moving forward. And they’re not the only ones intrigued in what Williams might accomplish this coming season.

Following the remarkable performance that Williams had in El Paso against the Louisville Cardinals during the Sun Bowl to cap off last season, the young Washington Huskies quarterback is getting some noteworthy attention this offseason.

Like this lovely article from Brad Shepard over at Bleacher Report, who put Williams among 15 players that college football fans will fall in love with during the 2025 season. As Shepard points out, Williams’ athleticism, play making ability, and arm strength will remind folks of some recent college football legends.

“He's so elusive, he's so flashy that he brings up comparisons to Kyler Murray and Johnny Manziel,” Shepard wrote.

I mean, there are certainly worse quarterbacks to be compared to. Murray and Manziel were phenomenal and thrilling to watch during their college careers and it would be incredible if Williams’ UW career played out the way their college careers played out.

And to be completely honest, it would be fair to expect that sort of attention to continue heading into this coming season.

Against a really respectable Louisville Cardinals team, Williams managed to complete more than 80 percent of his passes for 374 yards and four touchdowns against just one interception. And that happened to be just the second start of Williams’ career.

With the offseason here, and there really not being a ton to talk about other than some transfer portal happenings, recruiting, and the eventual preseason content, people will look for interesting storylines to discuss. And Williams, and his potential, will likely be something people flock to at some point or another.

That’s a good thing. It’s something worth keeping an eye on. It’s something that we should enjoy and celebrate moving forward.
