We’ve got more news and notes and only a little bit of nonsense to enjoy. The Washington Huskies had a pretty good Friday. There was a ton of success on both the baseball and softball diamond and I’ve been working on digging through more and more of Washington’s record books (again, starting with football, but I’ll be making my way to softball, baseball, both of the basketball teams, and out from there).

Let’s go through the latest happenings around the Washington Huskies, shall we?

Washington Husky softball blasts past Illinois Fighting Illini

It’s hard to not be impressed with the way the Washington Huskies managed to obliterate the Illinois Fighting Illini on Friday evening. Truly. Yes, I know Illinois is among the worst in the Big Ten when it comes to softball this season, but Washington really, really did a great job in getting a run rule win over a conference opponent. That’s something worth enjoying and celebrating.

As a result, UW holds a solid spot in the Big Ten softball standings

It’s not just that Washignton managed to beat Illinois that the Huskies are holding on to a solid spot in the latest Big Ten softball standings, but it certainly helps that UW got to beat up on one of the worst teams in the conference this season. The Huskies should enjoy that they’re slowly moving up in their new conference home and another win over Illinois would help them do just that.

So, let’s get another win over Illinois, please. Is that too much to ask for? I hope not.

Washington Husky baseball beats the Rutgers Scarlet Knights

A road win against a conference team? I’ll take it. The Huskies won a pitcher’s duel (those are some of the most fun games to win, if you ask me) and Washington is moving on up in the world (or at least the Big Ten standings).

UW baseball is below .500 on the season, but the Huskies are THRIVING in the Big Ten baseball standings

Yeah, look, being in the Big Ten is going to afford Washington the chance to enjoy a chaotic existence, you know? The Huskies don’t have to be particularly great to be able to enjoy a solid spot in their new conference home standings.

The Big Ten isn’t a particularly great baseball conference. So, if Washington can sneak a few wins here and there, they’ll keep moving on up. And there are certainly some vulnerable and beatable teams in this conference that UW can sneak a few wins from.

Going through some more Washington Husky football history

This isn’t going to stop anytime soon. Can’t stop, won’t stop. There’s just so much Washington Husky football history to go through and I’ve got more and more record book-based content coming out over the next few weeks. It’s honestly been a blast to see how the Huskies have thrived historically and to celebrate UW football legends.

More folks should be doing that. That’s why I’m spending time pouring through the record book. I love this sort of stuff.

Today’s tunes:

Hey, look, more music. It’s something I’m going to include regularly in these columns. I hope you enjoy it. If not, no big deal.

Today, we’re listening to “Who Hung the Moon” by Jamestown Revival. It’s mellow, delightful, and all around fantastic. My kids love listening to it around their bedtime. I enjoy listening to it while writing. It’s a great thing that can help you to kick back and just let your mind drift. Rest, relax, and take comfort in the warm and inviting sounds that these craft. Their music rocks.
