Football season tickets are on sale. Spring football is still chugging along and the Washington Husky baseball team is in the midst of a pretty interesting season. Oh, and the Washington Husky softball team is really stinking smart (on top of being pretty dang successful).
Oh! Yeah, and there are a couple of former Washington Husky football coaches who are making a ton of money at other schools…
So…
Yeah, let’s talk about that.
Washington Husky news: A couple former Washington Husky head coaches are making a ton of money elsewhere
I don’t totally know what to do with this information, but I do find it pretty interesting. A couple of former Washington Husky head coaches are now among the highest paid college football coaches in the country. And I’m sure you can guess who they are. Because they’ve faced each other a couple times recently and now they’re both inhabiting the same conference.
Shoutout to Kalen DeBoer and Steve Sarkisian, I guess.
DeBoer, who is fresh off of an underwhelming first season in Tuscaloosa that angered a ton of Alabama Crimson Tide fans, signed an absurd contract to be the guy to immediately follow up after Nick Saban retired. According to 247Sports, DeBoer is currently tied for the No. 6 spot among the highest paid coaches in the country as he makes $10 million annually right now.
That’s a lot of money to go 9-4 with one of the most talented teams in the country. We’ll see how long that situation stays stable given the expectations that Alabama fans have.
Elsewhere in the SEC, Steve Sarkisian is coaching the Texas Longhorns and he’s been fairly successful in Austin, even if he’s lost early on in his recent trips to the College Football Playoffs (including once to DeBoer and the Washington Huskies).
Right now, Sarkisian is reportedly making $10.6 million at Texas, which is also a lot of money and has him as the No. 4 highest paid coach in the country. Like Alabama fans, Texas fans are certainly known for having measured and easy expectations and it’ll be intriguing to see how things play out for Sarkisian and the Longhorns moving forward.
Buy season tickets for the upcoming football season, folks
Look, now is your time to buy season tickets ahead of the upcoming Washington Husky football season. It could be a lot of fun. I’m certainly intrigued by what it will hold and I’d likely buy season tickets if I didn’t live a few thousand miles away from Seattle.

2025 @UW_Football season tickets are on👏sale👏now👏#GoHuskies x #AllAboutTheW
So, because I can’t make it to Washington Husky football games, someone else should make it over to Husky stadium on a regular basis for me. But no, I will not buy you the tickets. You’ve got to do that on your own. I believe in you.
The UW softball team is really, really smart
On the diamond, the Washington Husky softball team is really solid and successful. Interestingly enough, they’re also really, really smart. I mean, this team GPA is pretty dang impressive, even if you aren’t looking at all of the time and effort and energy that goes into playing college softball in the Big Ten.
Another quarter in the books 👏

I, uh, did not have such a GPA during either my undergrad or grad school pursuits. So, truly, congrats to the Huskies for their hard work and all they’ve accomplished here.
The Washington Husky baseball team is absolutely fascinating
I mean, we’re talking about a team that, in many ways, has been kinda underwhelming. And we’re also talking about a team that has the ability to go out and absolutely pummel lesser opponents. That’s just interesting to me. Eddie Smith has the Huskies moving in the right direction in his first season, even if things aren’t totally perfect.

I think there’s a lot to be happy with for the Huskies right now in Smith’s first year at the helm in Seattle.

That said, a few more wins in Big Ten play would be nice to see.
Today’s Tunes
Look, I know he’s an Oregon fan. I get it. But lately, I’ve found myself listening to a lot of Mat Kearney’s latest work. And my wife and I have found that we’re really fond of “Good Thing Going On.” It’s just such an absolutely delightful song.
And sure, yeah, I get it. The dude likes the Ducks. He’s even done a concert at their spring game. But, I mean, it’s a good song.
