We’ve got some Washington Husky news and notes and nonsense, folks. And, well, there’s just not much nonsense going around right now. Instead, there’s actually a fair bit of actually interesting stuff going around. Like some former Huskies getting recognized by one of the brightest minds over at ESPN and the always wonderful fun that is spring football that is happening right now.

Right now, I’m in the midst of diving deep into the Husky football record book (which I’ll publish more content from shortly) and also preparing to move from where I live currently to a new city a few hours away, which means that I’ve been admittedly a bit busy.

But that doesn’t mean we can’t talk about the Huskies and listen to some good music today.

Two former Washington Husky quarterbacks make it onto Bill Connelly’s list of the best 90 quarterbacks from this century

Bill Connelly is an absolute treasure. While there are plenty of reasons to critique ESPN for what they do content wise, Connelly continues to craft incredible and fun content that is all distilled down from the fact that the man is a brilliant number crunching machine. I love the way he makes numbers and stats and data seem approachable and understandable.

He also truly seems to deeply love and appreciate college football. And all of that is why I greatly appreciate that two former Washington Husky quarterbacks have recently made it onto Connelly’s list of the best quarterbacks from this century.

I’m not going to give away too much, you have to go read it all for yourself, but I will tell you that both of these quarterbacks helped guide the Huskies into the College Football Playoffs.

Washington Huskies emphasize “Montlake Made” in marketing campaign

The Huskies are doing a pretty good job of emphasizing some of the greats that have come through Seattle in recent seasons and it’s part of this really solid marketing campaign that revolves around being “Montlake Made.”

I love alliterations and I’m here for fundraising and fun marketing. I also love the history that surrounds college football. Everything about this is a win in my book.

Spring football is in the air

Man, it sure seems like the Huskies are having fun right now. I love that. The UW in-house comms and marketing team are doing a great job of making this team something that fans can easily connect with. Kudos to them for that.

And I’m absolutely fascinated about what this coming season will hold. There’s a lot of buzz around the program right now and it sure is a fun time to be a UW Husky fan.

Washington Huskies share spring football calendar for this week

I still love the way that Jedd Fisch and the Washington Huskies continue to work at making spring football that is something fans can experience and engage with and enjoy as often as possible. Kudos to Fisch and his team for making this a priority. I know we’ve talked about this before, but I’m a huge fan of Fisch’s mentality here.

And also all of this trickles down to where it’s a priority for the official in-house UW football media team to make sure fans are able to keep up with everything that’s going on (within reason, you know). I’m a fan of the fact that Washington is, on a weekly basis, sharing a graphic on social media to remind you (and me) of when the Huskies are having their spring practices.

Today’s tunes:

Hey, look, music. We’ve got more music. We’ll always have music. I like listening to music and I like sharing music. Music is great. And great music is certainly even greater. So, that’s why we’re listening to Watchhouse (formerly known as Mandolin Orange, which was such a good band name, to be honest) and their song “Old Ties and Companions.”

I’m actually in the midst of moving from one city to another, changing day jobs, saying goodbye to close friends and loved ones in my community, and then also preparing to take my family to a new community. So, you know, songs like this are hitting me a bit hard right now. But, good music is good music. And sometimes it’s really good to listen to good music that makes you feel emotions. I, for one, recommend it, folks.
