Things are absolutely spiraling out of control in Iowa City for Jedd Fisch and the Iowa Hawkeyes. In a game that was close at the half, Washington is now trailing by a seemingly insurmountable score difference against an Iowa Hawkeyes team that is just smothering everything the Huskies are trying to do.

Washington’s offense is completely and totally unable to get much momentum, in large part due to the way Iowa is winning at the line of scrimmage. Meanwhile, the Huskies’ defense is running out of steam as the Hawkeyes continue to just build steady momentum with their dominant running game.

It’s three minutes into the fourth quarter, as of writing this specific paragraph, and Washington finds itself down 37-10.

There is a very good chance that the score will change (in a very bad way) between now as I’m writing this specific line and when I ultimately hit the “publish” button on this blog. This game is not going well for Washington. Not at all. The Huskies are getting blown out largely because of their own mistakes.

Everything that can go wrong in this second half against the Hawkeyes is going wrong. And Washington fans aren’t thrilled with that right now.

Washington Husky fans infuriated with abysmal second half against Iowa Hawkeyes

Things are just flat out not good for the Huskies at the moment. A week after beating a top 10 ranked team, Washington is going to get steamrolled by the Iowa Hawkeyes. That’s just not a good look for Fisch and this team.

It’s not a fun Saturday afternoon for Washington Husky fans. It could have been. This was a winnable game coming into the day. But mistakes and poor choices are proving to be a consistent theme when Washington happens to play away from Husky Stadium.

There’s still plenty of football to be played this season. There are still plenty of opportunities for the Huskies to get things fixed down the stretch. But Washington looks like a very flawed team right now. And that’s concerning given how tough this schedule is.

Oh, and a quick score update, Washington is now trailing 40-10 after the Hawkeyes hit on another field goal.
