Demond Williamd Jr. and Giles Jackson had herculean efforts to lead the Washington Huskies in the 2024 Sun Bowl, but that wasn’t enough as UW came up short in a comeback attempt against the Louisville Cardinals in El Paso.
At one point in the fourth quarter, the Huskies trailed by 14 points. By the time the game ended, Washington lost 35-34 with the loss coming as a result of a failed two-point conversion attempt. Jedd Fisch went for the win and unfortunately the Huskies came up just shy of that.
Losing isn’t fun, but this game was enjoyable. And with the loss against the Cardinals, the Huskies fall to 6-7 on the season. Here’s how UW fans are reacting to the defeat.
Washington Husky fans sound off after Washington’s 2024 Sun Bowl loss against Louisville Cardinals
The loss stings, but a lot of fans are simply looking towards the future of the program. And there’s good reason to do just that. The Huskies have a fascinating quarterback they can continue to build around. Washington fans know that and are thrilled.
I like what's possible for 2025. GO DAWGS!!

This season could’ve gone much worse.

This team ain’t perfect, but we got the offseason to fix our flaws.
Still proud considering how gutted we were in January. Go Dawgs. ☔️
But speaking of building around Williams, it’s probably a good idea for the Huskies to find a way to beef up Washington’s offensive line. Fisch and company have some work to do there. Washington fans know that as well.

The game was pretty impressive with regards to the way UW mounted a comeback against the Cardinals.
Good game Dawgs! Yes, a tough loss but we had a chance to win it at the end after coming back from 14 down. We love you 💜💛

And of course, this graphic is pretty cool. I love the way they used Frosted Flakes to frame it. Great idea.

Now the offseason is upon us. We’ll see how Fisch and the Huskies improve the things that need to be improved upon and what the team looks like as we move forward. It really feels like there’s a lot of potential for 2025 to be a fun season. Let’s see what Fisch can build and how quickly he can build it.
