While the Washington Huskies have seen some ups and downs through the first half of the season, they haven’t seen a ton of consistent storylines for much of the season. Outside of the problems on special teams, that is.

It seems like each and every week, Washington finds some new and terrifying way to have problems with its kicking game. Or they give up frustratingly big returns on punts and kickoffs. And this week is no different. Through the first half, Washington has seen a field goal blocked and the Huskies have allowed a rather impressive return.

And it shouldn’t surprise anyone that Washington Husky fans don’t love that! The Huskies have shown there is plenty of potential with this team, but special teams issues are among the problems that plague Washington and have contributed to some frustrating moments throughout the season.

Washington Husky fans react to kicking woes and special teams issues on the road vs. the Iowa Hawkeyes

Here’s what Washington Husky fans are saying about the special teams problems that we’ve seen from the Huskies in the first half against the Iowa Hawkeyes.

No more field goals? No more field goals! DON’T KICK FIELD GOALS!!

I don’t know about others, but I don’t totally fault Grady Gross for everything that’s going on. But, well, he’s struggling. And these struggles just can’t keep continuing if Washington is going to win games like this against tough competition.

The Huskies need to get a few things figured out and they’ve got to figure it out sooner rather than later. Especially if they want to find a way to beat the Iowa Hawkeyes and their ridiculously stout defense on the road. UW has a chance to do that, but the Huskies can’t afford to make any mistakes on special teams if this road upset is going to happen.
