Will Rogers hasn’t been in Seattle for all that long, but the former Mississippi State Bulldogs quarterback has experienced plenty of highs and lows in his time as a Washington Husky. And even though he’s demonstrated that he can be a pretty good quarterback most of the time, there are plenty of UW fans who are ready to see the Huskies move on from the seasoned signal caller.

Whether that’s fair or not, that just is what it is. There are Washington Husky fans that, in light of how Michael Penix Jr. played a season ago, are ready to give up on UW’s current starting quarterback. And through most of the season, Rogers has been serviceable, or just flat out good.

On the season, Rogers has thrown for 2022 yards and 13 touchdowns against a total of four interceptions. Rogers has completed 72.2 percent of his passes this season.

But even though Rogers has shown some potential, he has unfortunately also shown some limitations at times and that certainly happened today.

Against the Hoosiers, Rogers completed 19 of 26 passes, but he threw for just 202 yards and threw two picks. That’s not great. One of those interceptions happened to be returned for a touchdown, which gave Indiana a lead the Hoosiers would never give up.

And though Rogers has done well for much of this season, there are some who believe it's time for the Huskies to focus on building towards the future.

I ask for folks to weigh in after every game. I got a few responses about how it’s time to change things at quarterback.

And there were plenty of people who told the official UW football account the same sort of thing.

Heck, there were folks who were of the mindset that swapping QBs is so important that it should cost Jedd Fisch his job if he doesn’t play their preferred quarterback.

What are my particular thoughts on the matter? I’ve watched Rogers play since the 2020 season when he was working in Mike Leach’s Air Raid at Mississippi State. I’m pretty familiar with how he operates on the field.

And we’ll get more into my thoughts on all of this soon enough. That'll happen after I've had a chance to think more on this. Because while I get the desire to switch away from Rogers here, I think that has to be done in the right circumstance. And there’s certainly a chance that ditching Rogers doesn’t actually play out well for the Washington Huskies this season. That needs to be considered.
