Washington Huskies won't back down to bring this local product back home to Seattle

The Huskies need a point guard in a bad way.

The Washington Huskies have a very obvious contact in the transfer portal, Jaylen Petty from Rainier Beach. The Huskies recruited him heavily in high school, but he ultimately chose to go to Texas Tech after a bit of a whirlwind recruitment. The problem with contacting Petty in the portal is that he went in with a "Do Not Contact" designation, which means he (and his agent) will be doing the contacting.

Petty would be a fantastic addition for Sprinkle, who's looking at a big void in his backcourt and needs a point guard to help run the show. He's also proven he's an elite guard that can score at will.

Jaylen Petty would be a slam dunk for Danny Sprinkle and the Washington Huskies

Whenever there's a "Do Not Contact" tag placed on a player, the mind automatically goes in two directions. The first is tampering, which...is that really a thing anymore? That a coach and a player may have already had conversations. Or even the agent has already worked out a deal behind the scenes. In the second place, the mind goes... is that maybe the player is going home?

Washington Husky fans are hoping for the second over the first. That Petty is thinking about returning to Seattle, where he played high school basketball.

Petty had a stellar freshman year at Texas Tech, where he averaged 9.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game. He also shot 37.5% from behind the arc, making nearly 70 threes on the season. He's a scorer by trade, but he also found ways to get others involved in a highly potent offense.

Washington lost their freshman point guard, JJ Mandaquit, to the portal, and also Zoom Diallo, who held down a lot of the point guard position towards the end of the season. The Huskies currently have zero point guards on the roster and none coming in via the recruiting class. Petty would be a home run.
